Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy

National Health Act (NHA):
Section 19(a) – A patient must adhere to the rules of the health establishment when receiving treatment or using health services at the health establishment
Section 19(c) – a patient must treat health care providers and health workers with dignity and respect
Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
Section 8 of OHSA provides that the employer must as far as is reasonably practicable provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health of employees.
Employment Equity Act (EEA)
Sction 6(2) – harassment is a form of unfair discrimination
Code of Good Practice – Workplace Harassment
Employers are required in terms of the Code of Good Practice – Workplace Harassment to adopt a zero-tolerance stance with regards to harassment. The Code applies to all employers in all sectors.
